Final Fantasy XIII-2 On The Way?

14 Mar 2010 - Final Fantasy 13 - Comments (2)

Final Fantasy XIII creators Yoshinori Kitase and Motomu Toriyama have stated that they'd be very interested in creating a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, though they're waiting to see how well Final Fantasy XIII sells in the West.

"In the past three years we worked both on the world and on the various systems," says Kitase. "Creating these systems isn’t very glamorous and can frankly be a bit boring. If we could do a XIII-2, we could direct all our attention to the story and refine what we have already built."

"We do not know if there will be a XV. This depends a lot on the success of XIII. Also, it is difficult to pinpoint elements that are typical Final Fantasy. They are mostly invisible: part of the DNA of the game, that everyone recognizes as typical Final Fantasy. But ifthere is a XV, I hope the way we wrote our characters carries over. We strived to create believable people of flesh and blood. They are not robots. And they are not super heroes. I hope this humanity is something we will see again."

Final Fantasy Versus XIII Is Coming Along Nicely

4 Sep 2009 - Final Fantasy 13 - Comments (2)

Looking forward to Final Fantasy Versus XIII? Well the good news is that development on Final Fantasy XIII is doing wonders for that other Fabula Nova Crystallis entry, according to the developer.

Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase told Kotaku at last weeks Gamescom that development time on Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be "comparatively faster" than that of Final Fantasy XIII. He also said that the time it takes to model characters and enemies in FFXIII is now taking about one-third the time it did at the beginning of the project.

There is still no known release date but we'll probably see the game in stores sometime in 2011.

FFXIII Coming To Europe During Spring 2010

4 Sep 2009 - Final Fantasy 13 - Comments (4)

Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase told VG247 that Final Fantasy XIII will get released in Europe and North America simultaneously on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 during spring 2010.

"We don’t have the actual month down yet, but in Japan it’s scheduled for a winter release, and in Europe and North American territoriers it’s spring 2010," said the producer.

He added: "For Europe and North America, the PS3 and 360 versions are going to be released simultaneously."

Kitase also said that they have been working hard to cut down the wait for European and North American gamers.

"For previous titles it took usually about a year to localise each version and bring it over to Europe, but for this title there should be a considerably shorter gap and [we'll] bring it to European territories as close to the North American release as possible."

They also mentioned that the Xbox version would probably require 3 DVDs.
