Talk to the people here, then talk to Barret and enter the 7th Heaven
Bar. You'll meet Tifa, for the first time here. She is a long running
member of Avalanche. You also meet Marlene who is Barret's
daughter. Name Tifa and you will get a choice of who to give the
flower you bought. Most actions concerning the girls in the game
determine who you will date later on in the game, so if you want
to go on a date with Tifa, you can get close to this by giving her
the flower. Barret will show up soon after and talk a bit.
Try to leave the bar and Barret will show you a hidden base
underneath the bar. Talk to Barret about Soldier and go back up to
the bar Tifa will talk to you about their child hood. Barret will
come up soon after and he will give you 1500 gill.
You can also run the Materia tutorial now and be able to equip materia.
Cloud is persuaded to help avalanche in their next mission. Now you
can explore the rest of the houses in the area. The Beginner's Hall
above the Weapon Shop is where you can learn more about the game,
which is handy if you are a first timer. There is a man standing near
the cage in the Beginners Hall with an All Materia by his feet.
Take it and a chest will drop down with an ether. If you go left
then down from the bar, you'll reach the materia shop where you can
buy materia to equip. When you want to progress, go back to the
train station you came out of and get ready for avalanches next mission.
