FFNemesis - FF7 - Reviews - #1

Final Fantasy VII - Reviews - #1

The year is 1995, the Playstation is the newest 'must have' console out. Square, admist some controversy, has moved from Nintendo's cartridges to Sony's CD-ROMs, in hope to deliver the best and most advanced RPG to date. And boy did they deliver.

Of its time, FFVII was revolutionary, it featured a 3D evironnment, excellent graphics and a dark and deep storyline. But above all one if the best villains seen to date - Sephiroth.

The gaming world was astounded at what Square had done. Upon the release of the PSone, they had sent a high benchmark for the rest of the games to come, and one which I believe has not been beaten to this day.

You turn on you Playstation and are greated with a stunning FMV of a camera panning over Midgar, this will have been the first time you would have seen graphics like this. Upon playing the game, you are greated with a 3D world and a fast pace storyline, which starts with you destroying a Mako Reactor. Immediately you are engulfed into the game.

While the graphics are no match for todays standards, the storyline, characters and feel of the game has yet to be beaten to this day, while Square-Enix continue to churn out new RPGs, they way things look, they will never make a better game then FFVII, after all, wasn't this the sole reason most people bought a Playstation?
