Bards are very useful to have in a party. Their unique ability to sing songs to boost and enhance your parties efectiveness in battle is very handy and culd mean the difference between you winning or loosing a battle.

Unlike Passive abilities these abilities must be cast in order to have any effect.
They also have a duration in which they will work and a recharge time, which you have to wait before you can use it again

Like most previous FF's, magic will consume MP, and also like previous FF's, most magic has an element assigned to it.
However, magic in FFXI also have a 'Skill' which is the type of action it will perform, whether it be Elemental, Healing or Enhancing.
