You will enounter several modes of transport during your time playing FFI, below is a description of each of these modes, in the order they are obtained.
The further down the list you go the more useful each transport is, and the later in the game you will obtain them. Meaning you'll have to wait a while to get that fabled Airsip I'm afraid.
This is the slowest and most tiresome way to get around. But at the beginning of the game is it the one you will be using a lot. Random encounters are commonplace whilst walking on foot, and while this may seem annoying, it is a good oppurtinity to train up, as in the later stages of the game you will find yourself using other modes of transport which eliminate random battles
You'll obtain your Ship in Pravoka. Cue Bikke the Pirate, he's been stealing and causing havok with the people of Pravoka. Him and his mates have taken over the town. After you defeat all his mates, he will fear you and give you his ship.
The Ship is quite a fast mode of transport. However whilst in a Ship, you will still face random enounters. The Ship can travel in open seas, but you can only dismount from a Ship at a dock, which are located throughout the map.
At Crescent Late, one of the Sages will give you a Canoe after you defeat Lich. You will first use it to travel in rivers, letting you reach place that were previously incaccessable. After you get the Canoe, you will get the ability to be able to dock your Ship at the mouth of rivers. Whilst in the Canoe, you will still face random enounters, and some with strong enemies.
This is by far the best mode of trainsport. In FFI, this is the last Airship which remain in the world. You must have obtained the Floater (See Items Listing
) to be able to get it. With an Airship you will fly at about 3 times the speed of walking if not more.
You will be able to fly anywhere, but only land in open land, so not forrests or mountains etc. YOu will face no random encounters with an Airship, which is a big bonus, because as you get to the later stages of the game, random battles become useless.
